On-going call for papers on the theme of ‘Language-pair-specific issues in translation and interpreting’

Some scholars (e.g., Robin Setton; Andrew Dawrant; Binhua Wang) have pointed out language-pair-specific issues in translation and interpreting particularly between Chinese and European languages, which points to great potential for further studies. We are calling from T&I researchers, trainers and practitioners for systematic discussion about but not limited to the following:

  • Typical difficulties and strategies in Chinese translation
  • Typical difficulties and strategies in Chinese interpreting
  • Grammatical issues (e.g., structural asymmetry) particular to Chinese translation, and strategies
  • Grammatical issues (e.g., structural asymmetry) particular to Chinese interpreting, and strategies
  • Pragmatic issues particular to Chinese translation, and strategies
  • Pragmatic issues particular to Chinese interpreting, and strategies
  • Cultural issues particular to Chinese translation, and strategies
  • Cultural issues particular to Chinese interpreting, and strategies
  • Typical problems that Chinese translation teaching needs to deal with, and solutions
  • Typical problems that Chinese interpreting teaching needs to deal with, and solutions
